My capstone experience was one of the most interesting things I have ever done. This internship most definitely changed me as a person for the better. I learned so much dealing with estates and wills. I can honestly say that on a personal level, it has made me want to enjoy life more and make sure I let my loved ones know I love them. I feel this way because I have now seen people deal with losses and seen what has to happen if a person wants to make sure that their belongings are with the people or where they what them to be, if there ever came a circumstance where actions need to be taken. This was a very meaningful experience for me. Not only was I able to act like a lawyer for a period of time, but I also got a feel for what it's going to be like when I am actually am one. I also realized that estate and probate is not the type of law I want to study during law school, or the field I want to go into as a lawyer. I have gained so much knowledge from this experience. I have learned a lot about estate law which deals with wills and trusts like state before. I have learned how a firm has to file and store things safely and accordingly. Lastly, I have realized how important attorney client privilege is and how it always has to upheld no matter the circumstances. For the beginning of this process and actually before, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in criminal law and not estate law. If I were to start over and do this whole process differently, I would try and do an internship at a criminal law firm to get more of a feel for the field I plan on going into. All in all, I really enjoyed my capstone experience and realized a lot about what I wanted to study about law and what I don't.
